The Caring Van will be here on November 24th to give out free flu shots for those who desire their children to have one.
Chapter 3 Test will be on Monday, October 12th. We will then begin Chapter 4. In chapter 4 we will multiply decimals by whole numbers, multiply decimals and decimals, express products as powers and evaluate exponential expressions, and use skills and strategies to solve problems. |

| In Chapter 2 we are learning to add and subtract whole numbers and decimals, estimate sums and differences of whole numbers and decimals, identify and use the properties of addition (p.34 in textbook), and use skills and strategies to solve problems. The test will be on September 23rd if all goes as planned. There is a review on p.41 in the textbook if you would like to use it to prepare for the test. |

| We will learn how to write a concluding sentence,brainstorming three supporting ideas, and starting on the 31st of Aug. we wii have 4 vocabulary words to learn. Vocabulary test will be every Friday. |

5th Grade Math

In Chapter 1 we are estimating quantities using benchmark numbers, using place value to read and write whole numbers and decimals, comparing and ordering whole numbers and decimals, using skills and strategies to solve problems.
I am anticipating having the test over this chapter on September 3rd. There is a good test review on p. 21 of the textbook. The test will be in multiple choice format.
We will be out of school on September 7th for Labor Day. |
